Residency Program

The Emergency Medicine Department offers the only emergency medicine residency program in Tanzania. The Masters of Medicine in Emergency Medicine (MMed-EM) is a 6-semester (3-year program), where residents spend time in the full-capacity EMD-MNH and in other relevant to the practice of emergency medicine, such as surgery, obstetrics-gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, and pediatrics. The residents also spend 6-8 weeks on rotation in theUSA, South Africa, Canada or Australiain order to gain experience from well established, and highly experienced faculty that are worldwide leaders in emergency care.

The residency programuses a competency-based curriculum that is approved by Tanzania Commission of University (TCU) under the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.
